ENJOY MATHEMATICS in 3D
Welcome to

The world in which we live has three dimensions: "length," "width," and "height." The characteristics and nature of various figures have been researched and widely used in science and technology by great predecessors in order to advance understanding of this world further and to enrich our lives. Moreover, through understanding the mechanisms involved in our three-dimensional world, it then becomes possible to catch glimpses of worlds of higher dimensions that we cannot perceive (for example, four dimensions).

"Hopefully you will joyfully learn mathematics in the three-dimensional world and will become even more fond of mathematics!" - this website has been designed around this wish.

However, it is rather difficult to freely operate in a three-dimensional world. Hence this website uses the software Cabri 3D to manipulate figures three-dimensionally. This software, similar to software used for planar figures, can create and move figures in three-dimensional space.

We think that you will little by little grasp the true fun and joy of mathematics, which is not just limited to solving questions, by researching various three-dimensional figures. Please definitely become a friend of old lonely "mathematics" who merely would like to enjoy your company.

This website includes content for students and teachers that is
not only mathematical content learned at school but also other
content that can facilitate further understanding and learning of
more advanced matters. The following two is content aimed at students. File for researching three-dimensional figures
This is for students to operate three-dimensional figures by themselves according to content learned at school. The three-dimensional dynamic geometry software, Cabri 3D, needs to be installed for use. (To the method of installing)

Content introducing how to research three-dimensional figures
The file introduces how to utilize it in researching three-dimensional figures. It can be viewed with webpage browsing software such as Internet Explorer.

The following four is content aimed at teachers.

Unit plan
The files show unit plan regarding the study of three-dimensional figures. There are files of entire large units and those of the smaller units included in the larger ones.
Regarding classes using Cabri 3D, the three-dimensional dynamic geometry software, links are provided in the instructions. As it was created with Acrobat, Acrobat Reader is necessary.

Lesson plan
This shows each class's Lesson plan included in the unit plan. It is linked to the content introducing the "files for researching thee-dimensional figures" and the "content introducing how to research three-dimensional figures," which can be used in classes.

Files for researching three-dimensional figures
This is for students to operate three-dimensional figures by themselves according to content learned at school. (Naturally it can also be used in classes for any student.) It is linked to the unit plan and instruction proposal to show when and in which unit it needs to be used. The three-dimensional dynamic geometry software, Cabri 3D, needs to be installed before use.

Content introducing how to research three-dimensional figures
This introduces how students and teachers should utilize the files in researching thee-dimensional figures. As it was created as a Flash Movie, Flash Player is necessary.
It can be viewed with webpage browsing software such as Internet Explore.
